Why is it bumpy inside clouds?

Short answer: Clouds are mixing points for different temperatures.

Clouds often form where warm air meets cool air. When the plane crosses these invisible temperature boundaries, you feel a bump, similar to driving over a bridge expansion joint. It is totally normal during climb and descent.
