Can turbulence make the plane fall?

Short answer: No. The plane stays flying due to physics.

In even moderate turbulence, the altimeter shows we barely move 10-20 feet. It feels like a massive drop because your inner ear is hyper-sensitive to downward acceleration, but the wings are still generating lift.
