What happens if a passenger becomes seriously ill before takeoff?
Short answer: They are assessed on the ground and won't fly if it's unsafe.
If someone feels unwell during boarding, the crew pauses to assess the situation safely. Flight attendants are trained in first aid and can request airport medical staff immediately.
If there is any doubt about whether flying is safe, the journey is simply postponed. This decision is made calmly on the ground, with full medical support available, and without any pressure to continue if you are unfit to fly.
