Noises Landing
What is that loud whirring or grinding noise during descent?
Short answer: It is the electric motors changing the shape of the wing.
To land safely, the plane needs to fly much slower. To do this, we use heavy electric motors to push out metal panels called 'flaps' and 'slats' on the wings, making them wider. This gives us massive amounts of extra lift. The loud whirring sound is just the motors doing their job so we can glide smoothly down to the runway.
