Landing What If?
Can the plane slide off a wet runway in heavy rain?
Short answer: No, the runways and tires are specially designed to prevent this.
Runways are heavily grooved to drain water instantly, and airplane tires are inflated to over 200 PSI to slice right through puddles. Plus, jets use 'reverse thrust' from the engines to slow down. This means we don't even have to rely entirely on the wheel brakes to stop safely in a massive downpour.
