What If?Safety Myths
If we are over the ocean, where can we land?
Short answer: We always fly within reach of a suitable airport.
Ocean crossings follow strict 'ETOPS' rules, which guarantee we are always within a specific flying time of a backup airport.
These diversion airports are pre-planned and monitored. If an engine or medical issue arises, we simply turn toward the nearest one. Even over the middle of the ocean, we always have a concrete plan and a place to land.
