What If?Safety Myths

What if an engine fails over the ocean?

Short answer: We can fly for hours on just one engine.

Planes are ETOPS certified, meaning they are proven to fly safely on one engine for 3 to 6 hours. This gives us plenty of time to drift down to a lower altitude and cruise to a diversion airport comfortably.
